Sogoli

Scroll Down

The tale of the Sogoli sculpture harks back to a previous exhibition. Originally, this artwork was intended to bear the name "Miss Espresso" as it was crafted with a significant portion of coffee powder. However, due to the slower progress encountered while using coffee powder in this sculpting technique, I returned to working with papier-mâché and specific materials. Consequently, its name was altered from "Miss Espresso" to "Sogoli."

Story

The prominent key positioned at the top of this sculpture symbolizes the gathering of knowledge from our surroundings, signifying that the more we understand, the better equipped we are to navigate life's challenges, as indicated by the presence of two black chains in the sculpture's palm. Furthermore, at the base of this sculpture, four other keys remain, yet to restore balance. The incorporation of chains in this artwork conveys the concept of unity.
